AcroMetrix specializes in offering a comprehsnsive range of molecular products

AcroMetrix specializes in offering a comprehsnsive range of molecular products that are designed to meet specific needs of the medical community. They operate out of facilities located in Benicia, California and Alkmaar, the Netherlands.

The scope of their products include controls and standards that assist the implementation and monitoring of diagnostic  assays for clinical laboratories, blood centers and manufactures. Since their inception, AcroMetrix has grown to become one of the leading manufacturers of molecular quality control standards, as well as controls used for clinical diagnosis and blood testing laboratories.

The products produced by AcroMetrix combine well-characterized, consistent quality controls and Internet-based solutions to better interpret and manage results. AcroMetrix says that laboratories will find it easier to validate new assays, train technicians and set standards when creating quality control programs.

The company recently released a new qualification panel called the OptiQuant-S HCV RNA Qualification Panel. This panel uses AcroMetrix’s proprietary technology known as SynTuraâ„¢ This technology gives labs a new way to fully optimize the Hepatitis C molecular assays that are currently available.

Viral Hepatitis C and B currently account for more than 75% of all cases of liver disease around the globe. Physicians routinely monitor their 1 HCV patients to observe any changes in the amount of the virus in their system (commonly known as viral load.) It’s vital that doctors get an accurate viral load reading from testing so they can adjust treatment and drug therapy as needed.

Michael Eck, President and CEO of AcroMetrix recently said, “OptiQuant-S HCV represents our continued commitment to Hepatitis C diagnostic testing. Medical laboratories utilizing the new OptiQuant-S HCV Panel will experience the benefits of a standardized product that offers consistent results with an enhanced dynamic range; and as a result reducing patient re-testing requirements and increasing savings in both labor and reagent costs.”

SynTuraâ„¢ Technology is special because it involves second generation viral RNA material that responds much like enveloped mammalian RNA viruses such as HCV or HIV. This technology makes it easier to insert synthetic sequences into mammalian RNA viruses that are shown to be stable in replication and able to form RNase resistant virus particles. This proprietary technology helps researchers develop and design defined RNA positive controls, quantification standards, internal controls and calibrators.
